Decent beginners drum kitReview date: 2010-08-05 Rating: 8 out of 10Bought one of these over ebay a while ago and despite what most other reviews say it's pretty good.
Set features six pads and two pedals, takes a while to assemble but it's fairly sturdy and well built, and doesn't move when you play it. I haven't experienced a problem with the wingnuts snapping and they're pretty on tight, so if they snap you must have put far too much pressure on them. My set came with four spare wingnuts aswell.
Software is not great, but not bad either. I run it on my bog-standard desktop PC running vista and it works well, if you hit a drum pad you hear it instantly and not a massive delay like some people suggest - that is probably more due to the computer than the drum kit. Pedals work fine aswell, I haven't had any 'double firing' yet either. The software allows you to play freestyle or use the attached game which isn't bad as a tutor. Supposedly you can update the software aswell but that never seems to work for me (seems to be DNS issues).
All in all a good set for a beginner, but not a professional, but then at a hundred quid that's not who it's aimed at.
Reviews
Digital Drum kitReview date: 2010-01-31 Rating: 10 out of 10This was the second drum kit from ION that I have bought. It took two years for the first one to wear out and it was used every day.
It has changed slightly since then the electronic box has become more compact. The drum pads are rounder and give off good quality sound.
I orginally bought these as an alternative to alienating the neighbours or restricting the times that a drum kit could be played.
Recommended for anyone who gets on with their neighbours but want a drum kit.Great low-cost start to drummingReview date: 2009-02-26 Rating: 8 out of 10My son used this it for about 18 months, now I am selling it here. Contrary to other reviews, nothing broke and we were very happy with the kit. The bass pedal could be better, can be adjusted for sensitivity, but for better feel and control we moved one of the pads low to simulate a bass drum and bought a real bass pedal. That worked very well! The kit is perfect for "silent" practice using headphones, and compares well with other electronic kits that cost £300+.Good ValueReview date: 2009-02-09 Rating: 6 out of 10
I purchased this for my 12yr old son for Chritsmas.
Pretty easy to put together, and on the whole was impressed.
He's no drummer but wanted one to begin on and this is perfect, I was going to go for a more expensive set but glad I didn't.
It needs a reasonable set of speakers and when connected sounds pretty good. Foot pedals were responsive which is good as have been some bad reveiws on them.
Overall...don't expect the earth as you only get what you pay for but good value for money and for a beginner a good choice.Ion iED05 Drum KitReview date: 2009-01-30 Rating: 8 out of 10Great budget starter kit. My son is ten and has just started to play. I was looking for an electric kit (for the volume), but which didn't cost the earth in case he didn't keep it going. In both respects it has delivered exactly what I was looking for. The only minor issue we had is with the software. It tends to crash and has to be re-booted from time to time. An irritation rather than a catastrophy.
